Volunteer With Us

Supporting people living with vasculitis takes a community — and volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. You don’t need medical expertise, special training, or a big time commitment. What matters most is your willingness to help create awareness, connection, and hope for those affected by vasculitis in Alberta.

Volunteering with the Alberta Vasculitis Association (AVA) is flexible, meaningful, and shaped around your strengths, your availability, and what feels right for you.

Why Volunteers Matter

Volunteers help us:

  • Reduce isolation for patients and families

  • Build awareness in the community

  • Support events, education sessions, and advocacy

  • Strengthen research by bringing lived experience to the table

  • Expand our reach so no one faces vasculitis alone

Every hour you give — big or small — truly makes a difference.

Ways You Can Help

You can choose one area or try a few:

a

  • Event support: helping run awareness walks, education sessions, or meet-ups

  • Peer connection: welcoming new members or supporting support circles

  • Creative roles: social media, writing, design, photography

  • Administrative help: emails, scheduling, organizing materials

  • Advocacy: helping us reach health organizations and other agencies for support

  • Research partnership: offering lived experience to guide research priorities
